IMPACT STORIES

We are committed to tackling poverty in African rural communities one family at a time

Since 2020, Pamirian Foundation has implemented community intervention programs including free feeding projects and interest free micro-loans to widows for sustainable businesses through collaborative partnership, donations and sponsorship, impacting over 500 widows and orphans in rural communities in Nigeria. By 2030 we envision elimination of stigmatization, poverty and inequality among widows and orphans in African rural communities.

Before the inception of Pamirian foundation in Owerri Nigeria, Widows faced extreme hardship in funding family affairs, finances and catering for the welfare of their children. The non-interest micro-loans granted by Pamirian Foundation enabled the expansion of businesses.

We invite you to see how your support will change lives and empower millions of widows and orphans in rural communities around Africa through the work we do.

Beneficiaries

Mrs Christiana Chinasa who is bereaved of her husband explained to us how life had been difficult for her in her words “I have had to feed from hand to mouth. The small business I am doing is not enough to take care of myself and my family. Sometimes I will eat into the capital and would have to beg for money to start-up the business again. Today you will go to the market and buy a thing for a certain price, tomorrow you’ll go back to that same market and the thing is costlier than you even sold it for”. After we listened to her, she was offered a micro-loan to expand her business for more profit as well as make it more stable, especially with the growing inflation as she had earlier explained. After a period of —– we went back to visit as well as evaluate her progress of which she testified of how the loan has helped amass more profit to cater for her family needs. Compared to the last visit, visible changes were seen and she affirmed she’d be able to pay back the loan at the agreed date.

Odinakachi Odionye is a seamstress and fruit seller who, before we met her, had been struggling to make her fruit business stable. She wasn’t happy with the condition of things as they were bad. According to her, “It has been difficult for me. The fruits I sell are in small quantities and the profit is not even enough to cater for my family. Sometimes, because of using both the profit and the capital to solve one problem or the other, I will be off business for a certain period of time until someone gives me money to start again”. After listening to her, we offered her a loan that would help her grow her business while we also enlightened her on ways she could improve on her business strategy so as not to eat into her capital. When we returned back to evaluate her progress, she had improved greatly. From a makeshift table, she now had a stall where she sold her fruits and also boasted of her ability to now cater for her needs and her family’s.

Caroline Okechukwu is a widow who had little funds or financial assistance to do so. However, after we visited, she appealed to us for a loan so she could start selling fufu and yam which to us and as she explained, is a very lucrative business in Mbaise, Imo state . As is our goal to provide for people like, we offered her the loan of which, visiting her for evaluation she had begun planning to pay back the loan by making daily contributions from her business proceeds to microfinance banks where she will get them and payback her monthly loan. In her words “Before, I could barely feed, but now, I am doing contributions every day and still have money left to buy food for myself and my children without touching my capital”.

MARY NWAGWU

I am very grateful for this program, as I have never seen anything like it in my community. Since my sister passed away and left her children in my care, I have been thinking about how I can financially support their upbringing and education. We have received help from the Pamirian Foundation, and I am truly thankful for that.

Sis. Anita Ekim

“I am very grateful for the Pamirian Foundation. After losing my husband, I was left to take care of four children on my own, which made providing for them a struggle. They had to drop out of school, but thanks to the Pamirian Foundation, they have been re-enrolled and are receiving everything they need. May God bless you abundantly in Jesus’ name.”
